Vision Statement

The West Oso Independent School District is a student performance driven organization that values each individual’s abilities and needs in the learning community. Our students will have academic and life related skills necessary to be productive and responsible members of society.  Students will be afforded the opportunity to obtain a well rounded education with parents and staff working together using traditional and new technological teaching methods in a safe and orderly learning and working environment.   

DISTRICT GOALS, 2007-2008

GOAL 1: High expectations will be expressed for all students.
 
  1. Students will be prepared to be successful in taking state mandated tests, achievement tests, and college entrance examinations.

  2. Students will have opportunity and are expected to be well rounded in the areas of academics, fine arts, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

  3. A good atmosphere will exist where children will love going to school and all are treated with dignity and respect.

  4. The schools will have a safe and orderly learning and working environment.

  5. The students of West Oso ISD will demonstrate exemplary performance in the reading and writing of the English language, mathematics, science, and social studies.

 

GOAL 2: The district will have well balanced programs.
 
  1. The district will have an effectively aligned curriculum and instructional program that meets the needs of all students.

  2. Innovative technology and training will be provided that maximizes learning and fully prepares students and staff to meet the challenges and employment opportunities of a technological and rapidly changing world.

  3. The district will have a curriculum and program driven budget.

 

GOAL 3: The district will have well qualified employees who are positive role models.
 
  1. The district will have a dynamic student oriented staff made up of the best qualified and best trained personnel, district-wide, and provide effective staff development that focuses on the needs of our diverse student population.

  2. The district will have an instructional staff that is enthusiastic in their instruction, and current in methodology that uses a variety of instructional strategies so that all children can learn.

 

GOAL 4: The district will have strong partnerships with parents, the community, and businesses.
 
  1. The district will continually recognize that the public schools are the heart of learning for the community.

  2. Parents will be afforded opportunities to participate in parent involvement programs that exist or may be developed to meet program needs.

  3. Parents and community members will feel welcomed and well received as members of the learning environment.

  4. The district will promote parent and community awareness and develop support for the schools by using appropriate and collaborative decision making models.

 

GOAL 5: Facilities will be conducive to program needs.

 
  1. The district will have state of the art facilities that are conducive to learning.

  2. Facilities and grounds will be maintained for safety and attractive appearance conducive to a good learning environment.

  3. The District will ensure that all building and remodeling projects are held to high standards of quality construction and have provisions for expandability, reflect the needs of programs, comply with local, state, and federal regulations, and are completed in a timely and cost effective manner.
