West Oso ISD accepts out-of-district transfer students.
Transfers are considered on a case-by-case basis and require an interview
with the appropriate campus principal, completion of transfer request forms,
recommendation of the principal, and approval by the Superintendent.
Eligibility for transfers will be based on one or more of the following
special circumstances:
1. The student wishes to take academic courses needed for
graduation and not offered in the District of residence.
2. The student has attended school in the receiving district for at least
the two previous years and will be eligible for graduation this school year.
3. The student is under ten years of age, both parents (or one parent in a
single parent household) work, and no child-care facility is located within
the sending district.
4. The student's health is involved, as certified by a medical doctor; or
the student's safety is involved, as certified by the Superintendent of the
sending district and the Superintendent of the District.
5. The parent or guardian of the student is employed by the District [see
Policy DEB (LOCAL)].
6. The receiving school is more than 20 miles closer to the student's home
than the school of residence.
7. Student resides in a district which does not offer the grade level of
that student and which has a contractual transfer agreement with the
receiving district.
8. Other reasons submitted that may be acceptable to the campus principal
and district administration.
Transfers may be rejected for the following reasons:
-
Admission of the student would cause overcrowding of
classes.
-
The student's prior conduct record.
-
The student's prior attendance record.
-
Other lawful reasons determined by the Superintendent.
Further questions can be directed to the Office of the
Superintendent (316) 806-5900.
