West Oso ISD Board Notes.

For February 24, 2003

 

A quorum was established and the meeting was called to order by Board President Mrs. Alma Ramirez at approximately 6:41 p.m., the role was called and, the notice of meeting was read.

 

No one addressed the Board during Open Forum.

 

Dr. Helms introduced Eryca Gonzalez from WOHS who performed the National Anthem.  Eryca received a certificate of appreciation for her performance.  Roxanne Jasso and Derek Martinez  were recognized and received certificates of recognition for academic accomplishments and pending scholarships.  Finally, members of the Varsity Girls Basketball Team and Coach Roy Williams were recognized for their successful season.  Ms. Denise Hutchinson assisted in the presentation of awards and commented on the academic successes of these students.

 

The Consent Agenda was approved and contained the following items:

 

  1. Approval of Board Meeting Minutes of January 21, 2003
  2. Approval of the Monthly Investment Report for January 2003
  3. Approval of the General Fund Financial Report for January 2003
  4. Approval of Guerra Kieschnick CPA’s for the Leaver/Dropout Audit
  5. Approval of Proposal of Professional Legal Liability Insurance
  6. Approval of Budget Amendment
  7. Approval of Consideration Offer for Resale of Tax Property
  8. Approval of Agreed Upon Procedures for State Compensatory Education Report

 

The Board heard or received the following reports:

 

  1. Presentation on Current Tax Collections for January 2003
  2. Public reading of Board Members Continuing Education Credits
  3. Heard a TAKS Testing Update
  4. 2003-2004 Calendar Development Update
  5. Great Ab(stinence) Workout Education Update

 

In Action Items:

  1. Approved Innovative Social Studies Course for WOHS
  2. Approved DEIC Members
  3. Approved Policy EIE(LOCAL)
  4. Read and Acted on a Trustee Election Order
  5. Approved the Appointment of Early Voting Judge and Clerks and Election Judges and Clerks

 

The Board went into “closed session” to discuss personnel issues at approximately 8:22 p.m.

The Board returned to “open session” at 10:09 p.m. and approved contract recommendations for instructional staff and administrators as presented.

 

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 10:13 p.m.
