West Oso ISD Board Notes.

For April 28, 2003

A quorum was established and the meeting was called to order by Board President Mrs. Alma Ramirez the role was called and the notice of meeting was read.

Mr. Andrew Boyd addressed the Board during Open Forum.

Dr. Helms recognized Board Member Ms. Diana Cantu-Guerrero for completing requirements to earn a Boardsmanship Basics Certificate from the Texas Association of School Boards Institute for School Trustee Development, known as TASB ISD. Ms. Cantu-Guerrero completed 15 or more hours of required continuing education courses.

Dr. Mary Jane Garza commended all District staff members to the Board for their work in a successful team effort to have an outstanding DEC visit from TEA. The following were specifically recognized and received a small plaque of appreciation: Ms. Mari R. Roman, Ms. Rose Cantu, Mr. Dicky Valdez, Ms. Mary A. Hernandez, Ms. Gracie Stillman, Ms. Christina Salas, Ms. Gloria Dornak, Mr. Juan Padron, Mr. David Lynn, Ms. Patricia Walter, Dr. Denise Hutchinson, and Ms. Dora Sifuentes.

Dr. Denise Hutchinson was also recognized for the recent completion of her doctorate degree. Congratulations Dr. Hutchinson!

The Board approved the Consent Agenda items which included:
• Approval of Board Meeting Minutes of March 24 and April 9, 2003
• Approval of the Monthly Investment Report for March 2003
• Approval of the General Fund Financial Report for March 2003
• Approval of Student Transfers for the 2003-2004 School Year

The Board received a report on current tax collections through March 2003

In other action:
• Approved the Annual Dropout Records Report (Leaver Audit Report)
• Approved Proposed Tax Foreclosure Auction on Resale Properties
• Approved the Student Dress Code for 2003-2004 School Year
• Approved Summer School for 2002-2003 School Year
• Approved Policy Recommendations on Update 69 by TASB Policy Service
• Approved Board Members for Attendance of the Summer Leadership Institute
