West Oso ISD Board Notes ….
For August 25, 2003
A quorum was established and the meeting was called to order by
Board President Mr. Guadalupe Casas at approximately 6:33 p.m., the role was
called and, the notice of meeting was read.
No one addressed the Board during Open Forum.
Dr. Helms introduced the following students and staff to the
Board of Trustees:
· Elias
Casas for participation in community sports activities and representing the West
Oso school community in summer baseball competition.
· Marivel
Escamilla, Rudy Pereida, Deshawn Henderson, Mary De La Garza, and Kimberly
Moreno for attending the TAMU Sky Ranch camp in Van Texas for the purpose of
recruiting peers to attend college. These students are developing the “Go
Center” at WOHS and will be the “G-Force” to provide peers with information
about college entrance requirements, scholarship opportunities and etc.
· Mrs.
Gloria Macias, counselor at WOHS for supporting the students in the “Go Center”
and being a chaperone for their trip to Van.
In other action:
- Provided
opportunity for public discussion of the proposed budget and proposed tax rate
for the 2003-2004 school year.
- Approved
items on the Consent Agenda to include:

Approval of Minutes of Board Meeting on August
11, 2003
Approval of Monthly Investment Report for July
2003
Approval of General Fund Financial Report for

Approval of General Fund Budget Amendment
Approval of Copier Lease for Maintenance and
Transportation
- Hear an
enrollment report from Dr. Garza
The Board of Trustees Acted to…
- Approve
administrative recommendation to provide non-professional employees a salary
adjustment
- Adopted the
proposed budget for 2003-2004
- Adopted the
tax rate for 2003-2004
- Took no
action on resolution to provide a nominee for the Nueces County Appraisal
District
- Approved
employment recommendations for teachers
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:30 p.m.
