Students
in all grades may use advanced placement examinations to advance one grade level
or gain credit for a subject pursuant to the following provisions:
1. Credit by examination or advanced placement does not apply to
kindergarten students.
2. Students must request a Credit by Examination form from their
school counselor and have it completed and returned to the counselor by
September 1st for the Fall Testing and by February 1st for the Spring Testing.
There will be NO EXCEPTIONS.
3. Advanced placement/credit by examination tests will be
administered by the counselor the first three school days of October for the
Fall Testing period and the first three school days of March for the Spring
Testing period.
4. Advanced placement/credit by examination tests will be obtained
by the District from either the University of Texas or Texas Tech University.
5. Students
may take a specific test only once in a school year.
6. Passing
on the examination is defined as scoring in the 90th percentile. Elementary
students (grades 1-6) must score at the 90th percentile in each of the following
areas: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Secondary
students (grades 7-12) must score at the 90th percentile or above on the test
designed for the specific subject area course for which they wish to receive
credit.
