ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

The school counselor provides students and their parents information regarding academic programs to prepare for higher education and career choices. Effective in school year 2004-2005, most ninth graders will be required to enroll in the Recommended High School Program or Distinguished Achievement Program. A student removed to a Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) during the school year will have an opportunity to complete a course needed to fulfill the student’s high school graduation requirements before the beginning of the next school year. The District may provide the opportunity to complete the course work through any method available, including a correspondence course, distance learning or summer school. The District will not charge the student for any method of completion provided the District.

A student removed from the regular classroom to in-school suspension or another setting, other than a DAEP, will have an opportunity to complete before the beginning of the next school year each course the student was enrolled in at the time of removal from the regular classroom. The District may provide the opportunity by any method available, including a correspondence course, distance learning, or summer school.

Students and their parents are encouraged to discuss the options with the teacher or counselor to ensure the student completes all work required for the course or grade level.
