Mission Statement
(Policy AE)

The mission of the District shall be to ensure that all children have access to a quality education that enables them to achieve their full potential and to participate fully now and in the future in the social, economic and educational opportunities in our state and nation. The mission is grounded on the conviction that a general diffusion of knowledge is essential for the welfare of Texas and for the preservation of the liberties and rights of Texas citizens.

The mission is further grounded on the conviction that a successful public education system is directly related to a strong, dedicated, and supportive family and that parental involvement in the school is essential for the maximum educational achievement of a child.

Fulfilling The Mission

The school’s obligation to fulfill the mission begins at John F. Kennedy, a campus designed for the Districts’ youngest children—early childhood through grade 1.  At John F. Kennedy, the curriculum and instruction focuses mainly on reading, writing, and mathematics through thematic units developed by the teaching staff.  The school provides programs that lay the foundation for future academic achievement.  West Oso Elementary, a campus designed for grades second through 6.  West Oso Jr. High houses grades 7 and 8.  The curriculum is taught through a teaming method which enhances teaching and learning.

Culmination of the learning process occurs at West Oso High School, a 9-12 grade campus.  The School offers a rich curriculum for students with diverse and varied interests.  Students may choose to pursue Career and Technology pathways or advanced placement courses.  Students are encouraged to participate in band, choir, drama, athletics, student government, UIL academic competition and various other clubs.  When WOHS students march across the stage on graduation night, West Oso ISD in partnership with family, student, and community has fulfilled its mission.
