Results of the first administration of this year's
Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) math test for
fifth-graders show students in West Oso ISD, in overall, continue to
improve in both the numbers meeting passing standards and numbers
recognized for commended performance.On the
math test taken on February, 74 percent of all WOISD fifth-graders
taking the English version of the exam met the standards compared to 68
percent of the last year. Statewide, 81 percent of the students who
took the fifth-grade math TAKS in English passed.
Fifth graders are required to pass both the math and
reading TAKS before being promoted. Students have three opportunities
to take and pass the TAKS test.
