  2006 Honor Boards Announced
West Oso ISD is one of the five Texas school district boards of trustees that has been selected as 2006 Honor Boards in TASA's School Awards Program.  The five boards, listed with their superintendents, will be interviewed by TASA's School Board Awards Committee on Friday, October 6, at the TASB/TASA Convention in Houston.  One of the five will be named 2006 Outstanding School Board at the Second General Session on Saturday, October 7.   BEAR CENTER
Bear Center offers before and after school activities starting from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. according with the school schedule.  After school activities include one-to-one tutorials and enrichment activities such as music, soccer, sign language and more.  Check schedules for JFK, WOJH and WOHS to find out what activities you like the most.

Daylight Savings Time Safe for Children
When we change our clocks from Daylight Savings Time back to Standard Time on October 29, it will be dark earlier.  More children will be traveling to and from school in the dark.  There are many things you can do to help your kids go to school each morning and reach home safely at the end of the day... BEAR CENTER ACTIVITIES
There will be no Bear Center activities on any of the Campuses from November 20 - November 24.  The Boys and Girls Club will be open November 20 and 21.  For more information contact your school Bear Center teacher.
   
WOISD THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY CLOSING SCHEDULE
All West Oso ISD schools and offices will be closed for the Thanksgiving holidays from November 20 - 24.  Classes will resume on Monday November 27.

WOISD HOSTING UIL ACTIVITIES
West Oso ISD is sponsoring UIL (University Interscholastic League) activities on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at West Oso Elementary School.  The UIL events enhance the students' educational experiences by students competing in several areas.  This is an opportunity for students to test themselves against their own accomplishments and those of their peers. WOISD will host its Holiday Celebration for full time employees on December 18, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
WEST OSO ISD MIGRANT PARENT MEETING
On Tuesday, December 5, West Oso ISD will hold Migrant Parent Meeting at 1921 South Padre Island Drive from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Please join us.  Parents only.

WINTER BREAK
West Oso ISD will release classes early on Wednesday, December 20, 2006.  JFK will release at 1:05 p.m., WOE at 1:15 p.m., WOJH at 1:55 p.m., and WOHS at 1:45 p.m.  Classes will resume at their regular schedule on Monday, January 9, 2007.
